Participatory Video is primarily a tool for change, empowerment and building group solidarity based on the use of audio visual techniques. PV encourages group work with participants using video – the goal is not simply to acquire production skills or to prepare content that is subject to aesthetic evaluation. The curriculum shows how to build a sense of community, security and openness to communication, based on exercises, especially with socially marginalized groups.
