Methodology review
Being aware of the growing importance of video in everyday life, we began to consider how we can use it in the adult learning process. The common understanding of video + education probably comes down to learning how to make films or use digital equipment. But besides that, there are many other ways to support learning or acquire specific skills.
The method of our work was as follows: first, we met at a workshop lasting several days in order to experience and reflect on a specific application of video. Later, we tested the scenarios by conducting pilots of each workshop among very diverse groups and shared observations and comments of facilitators and participants with authors of individual programs. On this page you can find empirically proven scenarios for using video to work with participants, as well as videos with specific tips for practitioners. What’s more, we invite you to read the report presenting the wide range of applications of video with examples of implementation.
The presented results have been achieved in a partnership of four organizations with unique and complementary experience: Cotopaxi Association (project leader) brought in experience of filmmaking combined with the development of adult learning methodology, CIAPE and Magenta – supporting adults in acquiring comprehensive professional and social qualifications, and Real Time shared years of experience supported by scientific reflection on the benefits of Participatory Video for individuals and groups.
